Happy birthday little bug!
Presents & toys & cake & candy & games.... WOW. Mom is tired but it was great. Birthday girl picked a "cat" theme party. Yesterday was the birthday party with the friends. I let her invite 5 friends but only 4 could come. They went on a treasure hunt and found beanie baby kittens to adopt and then make little bead collars with the kitten's names on them. They ate kitten cupcakes, opened presents & had a great time.
These are some of the girls that came to the party... Mikayla, Kimberly & Maklen (Landon came too, the only boy. He felt important to be there) Sarah was there too, but not in the picture.
Here is Corinne with her kitten, Pounce. She said the treasure hunt was her favorite part of the party.

Here are the kittens all stacked up wearing their name-collars. The girls (& Landon) were pretty excited about the kitty adoption day. Corinne's Pounce is right on top. Landon's is the gray tabby. He named it Landon. It is so fun to be 4.

Saturday was the family party. Usually we have a good turnout for the family party but Corinne started a fever around 2pm. That reduced the number of attendees. Poor kid. She was feeling a little cruddy. She was in good spirits though. She kept telling me that being 7 wasn't a whole lot different than being 6. She didn't feel one bit older than she did yesterday. We had more kitty cat cupcakes and the real kicker: a kitty litter cake. It was a joke for dad & the grandparents. Corinne could hardly wait to bring it out to see the reaction of everyone! We have been whispering secrets about it for WEEKS! Here it is:

The little cat turds are tootsie rolls softened & re-shaped "decoratively" in the kitty litter pan with the kitty litter scoop. We literally had my brother Scott convinced that we had actually taken the pan & scoop from our real cat Jasmine & washed them prior to using them for the cake. I thought he might just lose it. I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Scott isn't even the gullible one in the family!

Oh, happy happy birthday, Corinne! We are so sad that we missed the party (not so sure about the kitty litter cake, though!). Hopefully you're feeling much better. It is no fun being sick, especially on your birthday.
We'll see you soon so we can give you your present!
What a fun birthday party! Perfect for 7 year old girls (and one younger brother!). The cake really does look like kitty litter. How did it taste? Happy Birthday Corinne! We hope to be with you next year to celebrate your big 8!
