Hey, it's a new soccer season!


Our team is the "Kicker Chicks", our first all-girl team. They range in age from 6 to 8 years old. Today we had our first game of the season. We wore yellow today because we were the away team. Blue is the home team from Lewiston. Corinne is #4, wearing the blue hat in the middle.

She played very well. She was pretty excited about the cletes she got for her birthday. But why does it always have to be SO cold during soccer season?? It snowed off and on all day and it was freezing. I don't know what the registered temperature was, but I would guess oh, maybe -20, give or take a few degrees. We were BUNDLED UP, I tell you what.

I don't know this Kicker Chick's name yet, but I need to find out soon. That was one heck of a kick!

Here are Corinne and Charlie. They were playing their position well. They were waiting for someone to kick the ball to them, just like the coach told them to do. Corinne saw me with the camera, and you know how we train kids to smile for the camera....

but she also knew her coach wouldn't be happy if she missed it when someone kicked the ball her way, so she had to pay attention to THAT. Charlie sure wasn't watching what was going on down at the other end of the field.

When the ball finally came their way, they did their job and went after it. Corinne got a few good kicks in this game.

Our Kicker Chicks scored a lot of goals, (nobody really counted how many) and they won the game. We know they won because they scored more goals than the other team, even though nobody really counted. That's how soccer goes down out here in the bitter freezing no-man's-land of extreme Northern Utah where it is so cold in the spring people shouldn't be allowed to play soccer until June because nobody can count the goals when it is 20 below zero.
